How Much Does Acupuncture Cost?

For acupuncture in Lake Mary, It is charged as a clinic treatment and most procedures (cups, infra- red, laser) are covered, the only procedures that incur additional charges are injections, nutritional supplements and herbal prescriptions.

We do not bill insurance but will provide a super bill for you to claim. Our pricing and treatment is not based on an “insurance price” and a “cash price” we apply the most appropriate treatment to the patients’ needs, not to treatment according to the highest chargeable we can get out of the patients’ insurance company.

Dr. Aitken follows this structure because it allows to her to continue to provide treatment therapies that are focused only on the patient specific needs not insurance billing and corporate clinic requirements.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Every health policy is different and must be verified on an individual basis. Florida regulates Acupuncture Physicians under the Department of Health.

Florida state law defines Acupuncture Physicians as Primary Care Providers, so our position is enhanced to assist you further in negotiating for insurance reimbursement.

Currently we are submitting claims electronically,  which take around 30 days, not including holidays, to determine what portion of your services will be eligible for reimbursement by your plans, not limited to CIGNA, AETNA, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD, UNITED HEALTHCARE.  Florida MEDICAID and MEDICARE do not cover acupuncture at this time.

As the policy holder, patients are encouraged to call their insurance provider (customer service number on the back of card) to ask about acupuncture coverage.

If coverage is determined, you may only be charged a copay per your plan benefits at the time services are rendered. If coverage determination is delayed and determined at a later date, a bill of the copay may be issued (if applicable) within 60 days.

We will work diligently with your insurance providers to negotiate coverage in your favor, however if any portion is not covered or denied, a bill with be issued within 60 days of service

If you have an insurance plan that covers out-of-network acupuncture and related services performed by a licensed acupuncturist, then we will provide a “Super Bill” for you to receive reimbursement from your carrier, after you have paid our fee(s). Call our office if you are unsure about your coverage. Our staff will be happy to assist you.

Is a referral required from my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?

No, but it is important to inform all of your doctors of all the treatments, supplements, herbs, medications you are using and what is working to relieve your condition and what is not but you do not need a referral to have acupuncture or receive an integrative medical consultation.
